Dostoevsky biography of the work
On the occasion of the anniversary of Dostoevsky, we decided to recall the works in which he himself turns out to be a character: from fictionalized biographies to postmodern science fiction, where the writer is the main character of the 3D Shuther. A huge number of books are dedicated to Dostoevsky - and on the eve of the writer’s two hundred years, their number has increased sharply: as the honorary president of the International Society of Dostoevsky Vladimir Zakharov said, only for September and October 30 books were published about the writer on scientific grants of the Russian Federation.
But here is the artistic - or at least partly art - works where Dostoevsky is a hero is much smaller. For this list, we chose ten novels, leaving this time as side of Pseudoharmov jokes about Fedor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, the kingdom of heaven: you can read about them in our material about collective literary humor. Leonid Tsypkin. Summer in Baden is the main work of Leonid Tsypkin-writer, doctor, refuser-was published abroad in the year: the first chapters went out in the New York Novaya Gazeta a week before the author’s death.
At first, the novel was almost not noticed, but at the beginning of the XXI century he took a place among the masterpieces of Russian literature: Susan Umbable helped his fate, accidentally finding an English translation of the book in the Bukinistic store. After the enthusiastic essay, the romance was translated into many languages - and finally appreciated the author’s homeland: four of his Russian publications have already been released since the year.
His foreman, traveling from Moscow to Leningrad, reads the diary of Dostoevsky Anna Snitkina, and then, reflecting on the great writer, walks in the “Dostoevsky” places of Leningrad: this study by the method of method is close to the texts of V. Zebald and modern, which has experienced the influence of Zebald Auto-Fix. With the story of the modern journey, the story of Dostoevsky’s journey with a young wife in Europe is intertwined here: love Fedor Mikhailovich for Anna Grigoryevna is overshadowed by a destructive passion for roulette a motive, which in prose about Dostoevsky occupies almost the first place.
An important role in the “summer” is played by thoughts about Dostoevsky’s anti -Semitism - and attempts to explain in this context to his books by researchers of Jewish origin. Dostorian Karen Stepanyan called this book - without referring to the compliment - "an example of what would happen if the character of Dostoevsky decided to write about his creator" and "a long, gradually silent in the night with a cry of insults and pain." Love in it, however, is much more.
Leonid Grossman. Rouletenburg “Ruleletenburg” - the name that Dostoevsky intended to give the novel “Player”: in a fictional city with this name, its action takes place. Leonid Grossman “restores” this name in its biographical novel - a book that has become a sneak of large and not an example of a more academic biography of Dostoevsky, published 30 years later in ZhZL. Grossman conveys the complex and passionate character of Dostoevsky, not disdaining by fiction exaggeration, pathos - which, however, seems quite natural for this hero.
The action is installed: from the main engineering school where the young Dostoevsky, anticipating his hero Raskolnikov, asks the teacher the question of the meaning of the inhuman Napoleonic wars, it is transferred to the office of the Yanovsky doctor, who watched the young writer in e; to the editorial office of “Contemporary” - and, of course, to the scaffold of the year: the trial of Petrashevites and the staging of their execution here is the central event.
The novel ends in Wisbaden, where the loser of Dostoevsky conceived “Crime and Punishment”: “... from the bottom of consciousness, from the deepest failures of conscience, from the most hidden bowels of his tormented, shocked, bleeding and still jubilant heart, from pierces of repulsive memoirs and huge unequatted intentions, still unclear in the outline, but powerful The designated images arose one great and sad book.
” Marianna Basina. Dostoevsky’s life. Through the dusk of white nights, the book of the Leningrad writer - a fictional biography of the young Dostoevsky bassin also wrote books about Pushkin and Gogol. The subtitle suggests that Petersburg Dostoevsky is here is not just a place of action, but practically the hero of the book: Basin is restoring the addresses and routes that the writer has been going on - from the time of study in the Kostomarovsky boarding house until the fatal year.
The book by Basina is much “more documentary” than the book of Grossman, and there is just not running forward in it: the narrative is linearly and measuredly. This, in fact, is an exemplary biography “for senior school age”, the style is artistic here: “Only a few days have passed since the moment he began his“ poor people ” - he called Roman - and there was no longer nothing more important than the story of the titular adviser to Makar Devil and the unfortunate girl Varenka Dobrosyolova.
Every morning, he precisely through power pulled his black uniform and reluctantly played into the engineering department. The morning clock so expensive for the writer, when the head is fresh, when the thought works cheerfully, cheerfully, boldly, left for nothing - and irrevocably ... The very view of the drawing, ready was hated to him. ” Mikhail Nikitin. There lived Dostoevsky “A Tale of 33 Scenes” in subsequent publications - “Roman in 33 scenes” is dedicated to the most poorly studied period in Dostoevsky’s life - several months, which he spent after hard labor in Semipalatinsk.
Here Dostoevsky served as an ordinary in the 7th Siberian linear battalion-and here he met his first wife Maria Dmitrievna, who at that time was married to an official Alexander Isaev. The author of the story Mikhail Nikitin was from Omsk, another city where the exiled Dostoevsky lived; His short story about Dostoevsky, written in E and published only in M, passed the little -forgot.
Thus, they found the confession of the soldier of Isaev “similar” to the confession of Marmeladov from “Crime and Punishment”, and in the image of the wife of Isaev, Marya Dmitrievna, discovered the features inherent in Dostoevsky’s infernal heroines, ”wrote literary critic Konstantin Lomunov. It is difficult to agree with these reproaches: in Nikitin’s laconic book, modernist training is felt, of all the fictionalistic biographies of Dostoevsky, this is closest to the way Yuri Tynyanov understood the literary biography.
Sergey Belov. Dostoevsky and his environment. " In the year, however, the text of the founder of the site FedordoStoVsky was released. Life and creativity. " John Maxwell Kutzeee. Unlike previous books on our list, the plot is completely fictional here: Dostoevsky incognito returns from abroad to St. Petersburg after the mysterious death of his stepson Pavel Isaev in reality Isaev survived his stepfather and takes on his own investigation, the writer himself is under secret police supervision.
The investigation encounters him with Radical Sergei Nechaev-the author of the Catechism of the Revolutionary: a psychological game in cat mouse, into which Dostoevsky is drawn by Nechaev, eventually becomes the reason for creating “demons”. Kutzey scrupulously includes the details of the family history of Dostoevsky, and therefore to recognize where reality goes into fiction is not easy for the reader at first - until it comes to an uninvited love line.
It seems extravagant so as not to say a decision far -fetched. Excessively “detective” - in the modern sense of the word - you can also consider such details of the plot as a journey through a fake passport in the name of the first husband of the late first wife. Of course, without the eternal memes of the biography of Dostoevsky, it is not possible: gambling, epilepsy, and even suspicions of pedophilia, an important heroine of the novel - girl Matryosh: we recall the chapter “At Tikhon”, excluded from “demons”.
Perumbadavam Sridharan. Love as Psalm Dostoevsky is dedicated to one of the most famous novels in the language of Malayalah - “Love like a psalm” by the Indian prose writer Perumbadavam Sridharan, who withstood more than a hundred publications. The novel is based on the feverish days, when Dostoevsky in an incredible hurry ended the “player”, acquaintance with the stenographer Anna Snitkina, outgrown into love and the second marriage of the writer.
Sredkharan built the plot on the basis of the texts of Dostoevsky himself and his wife’s memoirs: Anna Grigoryevna gradually comprehends the soul of Dostoevsky’s “real” and discusses his future works with him. In M, a film was shot about the journey of Sridharan to St. Petersburg, where the writer had not been: during walking around the city he meets with his characters, witnesses their explanations and even finds Dostoevsky by the gambling of Dostoevsky is played by Vladimir Postnikov, his wife-Oksana Kormishina.
Lara Vapnyar. Muse Muse The second novel of the Russian-American writer Lara Vapnyar-Tanya’s story, a young emigrant in New York: from her school years she wants to become a muse for the famous writer and as a role model he chooses Apollinaria, a woman with whom Dostoevsky was associated with the most passionate and painful relations in life. Anna Grigoryevna Dostoevskaya, the heroine, on the contrary, is contempt: “He wrote his main things, being married to her ...
And she seemed to not notice!
In America, Tanya meets a writer named Mark and enthusiastically takes up the work of the Muse. It is clear that nothing good cannot get out of this: Mark, the useless, is actually a writer, sees in her not Polina, namely the caring Anna Grigoryevna. But Vapnyar writes not a tragedy, but a tragicomedy, which is rather built in the canon of novels about emigration than in the tradition of literary understanding of Dostoevsky and his works.
Here you can recall the recent “idiot ku” Elif Batuman, where without F. Boris Akunin. Dostoevsky himself is not in the novel, but there is his lost manuscript, the first version of “Crime and Punishment”, where the main character is Porfiry Petrovich. Akunin did not deny himself the pleasure of writing this “Roman in the novel” as a whole. The manuscript costs a lot of money, it is not surprising that it is interested in criminal elements. There is also the heir to the publisher of Stellovsky, the letter of Dostoevsky, the philological study of eroticism in his works and, finally, the golden ring of Porfiry Petrovich.
For advertising "F. The winner was supposed to get a real golden ring with a diamond. As a result, no one was given the exact answer, the ring was auctioned, and the proceeds went to charity. Victor Pelevin. But in the novel “T”, Fedor Mikhailovich appears to be personally-as a character of a computer game, a 3D player with a mocking literary name “Petersburg of Dostoevsky”.
The game is a product of cooperation between political strategists with writers, and one of the meetings prepared by Dostoevsky is the battle with Count T. in the decoding of Count T. Korupotosos we have the most respected genre, because the direct analogue of oil production. Previously, they thought that some Chekists from dinosaurs received an inheritance.
And then the cultural community also found where to manage the pipe. So now all the dead are harnessed. ” Pelevin arranges Count T.
