Evgeny Slobodsky biography

According to the stories of the academician himself, her mother asked Ivan who was coming to her to give her rare surname to her future children - so their son Chazov became. The mother also set the future path to medicine for Eugene, since she herself graduated from the Gorky Medical Institute and even became the chief physician of the Tonshaevsky district hospital in the Gorky region.

During the Great Patriotic War, Chazov’s mother went to the front, and sent her son to the Molotov region, to the village of Kuva. At the end of the year, she received a referral to work in Kyiv, where she also took Eugene. There he graduated from school and entered the medical faculty of the Kyiv State Medical Institute. He began his career in the medical field in senior courses, as a paramedic at the ambulance station.

After graduating from the institute, Chazov went to Moscow and entered the residency at the Department of Hospital Surgery of the 1st Moscow State Medical Institute. Over the next ten years, he defended his candidate and doctoral dissertations, and went from a younger researcher to the deputy director of the Institute for Scientific Work. The subject of his close attention was such a direction as thrombolytic therapy - in fact, in Russian science, Chazov is its initiator.

And the date of the foundation is considered on October 5 - on this day, Chazov, who previously experienced drugs on himself,, together with several colleagues, used fibrinozolin to treat arterial embolism of vessels of the right lower leg in a patient with a complication of a complication with a myocardium infarction. Information about the unique operation bypassed all the allied newspapers - this is how the whole country recognized the name of the twenty -native doctor.

After the death of his teacher, Alexander Myasnikov, Chazov became the director of the Institute of Therapy, who, in February, under his leadership, was transformed into the research institute of cardiology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences. Developing his ideas, Chazov began to create a new system of treatment of heart disease, primarily myocardial infarction.

The problem was really important - after all, death from such diseases in statistics took first place. Chazov broke the former established system when patients were treated with peace, and developed new principles for the treatment of patients. Its main idea was the earlier hospitalization of patients in intensive observation chambers with the help of ambulance brigades.

With his direct participation in the country, one of the first in the world, a system of stage treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction was created: from an ambulance, the patient entered the intensive care unit, then to the cardiology department, and then was rehabilitated in specialized sanatoriums. In the year, Chazov managed to achieve a decision of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the construction in the northwest of the capital of the All-Union Cardiological Scientific Center.

He was originally conceived as an analogues in the world, a single cardiological complex that would combine institutions of all types of cardiology - preventive, experimental and clinical. Later, already in the years, the center moved to new buildings and acquired its own experimental production of medical and biological drugs. Having great authority in the medical world, outstanding organizational abilities and influence on the power of those who are in power, Chazov used them to create a first -class cardiological service in the Soviet Union.

Under his leadership, supporting centers and scientific institutions in the Union republics were opened, working now, when the latter have become independent states. He managed to knock out more than millions of dollars for the purchase of the latest equipment for a network of republican diagnostic centers of practical health care. A preventive cardiological service was created from scratch.

In the years, Chazov, already as a minister, managed to create the research center of preventive medicine of the USSR Ministry of Health. By the time of the collapse of the USSR, about 3 thousand prevention departments and almost 1.5 thousand medical and sanitary units worked in different regions. Chazov continued to develop the methodology for the treatment of heart attacks using fibrinozolin.

The operation was called intracoronary thrombolysis, and it universally recognized the principles for treating myocardial infarction around the world. It is impossible to calculate how many this method of treatment has been saving lives over the past since then for almost half a century. Subsequently, this operation was included in the ten largest achievements of world cardiology of the twentieth century. The authority of the Soviet cardiology industry in the international medical community was very large.

This can be stated at least the fact that the first international conference on preventive cardiology was held in the year under the direct leadership of Yevgeny Ivanovich. Thanks to him, a number of cooperation agreements were concluded with foreign colleagues. That was a difficult time for both the country and the medical industry. He managed to finally complete the formation of a comprehensive system of cardiological assistance.

But his activity at the highest medical post was not limited to cardiology alone. Under him, an AIDS system was created from scratch, a system of providing psychiatric care to the population was revised, a new network of children's medical institutions was created, and an extreme medicine service was created. In the year, Chazov left the post of minister and returned to the leadership of the Cardiology Center.

The collapse of the Soviet Union put medicine in a very difficult position due to chronic underfunding and insufficient attention of new power structures to its problems, and all this against the background of all the aggravating situation with mortality from cardiovascular diseases. For decades, prominent politicians, military, and cultural figures have expressed their desire to be treated at an outstanding cardiologist.

Subsequently, Evgeny Ivanovich published a number of books about his activities as the attending physician of the leaders of the country. His merits did not go unnoticed in Russia - he became one of the few full cavaliers of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, consistently received all four degrees, and was also awarded the State Prime Ministerial of the Russian Federation.

The outstanding cardiologist Yevgeny Ivanovich Chazov died on November 12. He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow. His name was named by the National Medical Research Center for Cardiology, once founded by him, and one of the Moscow streets. Cover: Evgeny Chazov.
