He was fruitfully engaged in the development of higher education in the Union republics, especially in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus.
He took an active part in the creation of new technical universities in India, Algeria, Egypt, Burma. In August, P. Polukhin returned to the Moscow Institute of Steel and Leaves as a rector. He fruitfully led the institute for more than 20 years and at the same time headed the department of plastic deformation of special alloys of the PDSS. It was under his leadership that the united efforts of the teams of the PDSS and OMD departments, as well as problem laboratories created at these departments, began to form and develop a scientific school of metal processing pressure.
Around P. Polukhin, a wonderful team of young scientists developed. The main scientific works of P. Polukhina are in the field of theory and technology of plastic deformation of special alloys and structural materials. He substantiated, developed and introduced into production progressive technology and equipment for rolling continuously granular blanks of complexly aligned alloys of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, new technological processes and spiral rolling mills for the production of hot-rolled pipes, performed comprehensive research on aluminum alloy, titanium and other non-ferrous metals, rolling steel and aluminum sheets accuracy.
The author of the inventions received 12 patents.
During the more than the summer period of work as the rector of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alojances, P. Polukhin made a great creative contribution to the improvement of the educational process based on the organic unity of educational and scientific work, the wide involvement of students in scientific research. The effectiveness of scientific work has increased, the processes of introducing scientific developments into the national economy accelerated.
At the institute, in addition to the departments, powerful scientific units were created in the form of problematic and industry laboratories, there was a qualitative growth of the faculty, which provided a high level of teaching. The material and technical base of the institute was expanded and updated: the building of the new educational and laboratory corps, 3 hitching houses for students for students, the main building of the MISIS NIT and the Student City Metallurg, 2 residential buildings for teachers and employees, reconstruct the old corps on the Crimean Val and the hostel House of the Commune, was built.
The laboratories of the departments were equipped with computing equipment, modern devices and equipment. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 20, for great merits in the development of higher education and the training of qualified specialists for the national economy, Polukhin Peter Ivanovich was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Alewa and Hammer.
Under the leadership of P. for great merits in the development of cooperation with the Freiberg Mining Academy, P. Polukhin was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of Sciences FGA. Until a year, P. Polukhin was the rector of Misis, then retired. He lived in Moscow. He died on June 25. He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery. The main scientific works and essays were awarded the Orders of Lenin: rolling production.
Moscow, rolling and heat treatment of rails. Plastic forming of metals. The quality of the sheet and the modes of continuous rolling. Alma-Ata, the scientific school of Peter Ivanovich Polukhin occupies a special place among the scientific schools of MISIS and scientific schools of the OMD of other universities, because it was formed in fundamentally new directions in the field of plastic forming of metals and alloys.
Starting from the xs, in MISIS, under the leadership of Peter Ivanovich Polukhin, experimental methods of photomability and photographic plasticity, Muar lanes and, a little later, holography methods, began to be effectively applied. Using these methods, a large volume of studies of strength and operational durability of the tool is performed. In cooperation with enterprises of ferrous metallurgy and heavy engineering, significant reserves of saving alloy steel were revealed in the manufacture and use of bandaged rolls of progressive structures.
In the same years, with the direct participation of P. Polukhin, methods were developed for theoretical analysis of flat, suspicious and voluminous tasks in relation to various OMD processes using the method of conformal displays of variational principles and the theory of complex alternating functions. At the initiative of P. Polukhin, from the end of the 10ths, plastic studies of metals and alloys in relation to various OMD processes are widely carried out in MISIS.
The results of these studies were published in unique reference books and monographs in our country and abroad, which have become the desktop of many specialists in the processing of metals. P. Polukhin and his students made a particularly significant contribution to the theory, technology and equipment of rolling production of ferrous and non -ferrous metals and alloys.
This made it possible to organize the production of high -quality domestic kinescope tape and sheet for offset printing. Original studies of the stress-deformed state of the roller nodes of multi-wound stani served as the basis for proposals that improve the quality of rental and increased productivity of the rolling mills. The mathematical model of the process of steel broad-shouldered, developed under the guidance of P.
Polukhin, was used in the development and introduction of a new method of hot rolling according to the “slab-rolon-rolon” scheme, when the tackle after the draft of the stories is wound into an intermediate roll with subsequent rental in finishing cages. Under the guidance of professors P. Polukhina and V.Zhadana resolved a large scientific and technical problem to determine the influence of technological regimes of VTMO on the structure and properties of finished rental from carbon, economical and highly alloyed steels at the country's metallurgical and engineering plants.
Given the phenomenon of an abnormal change in the mechanical properties of cold -rolled stripes and ribbons from copper and its alloys, a comprehensive approach has been developed to the task of improving the quality of rental from non -ferrous metals and alloys in case of irritability and tablet, stabilizing mechanical properties and structural characteristics. A complex of theoretical and experimental studies was performed and new technological schemes of screw radial-shift rolling of continuous and hollow blanks with increased supplies of the supply of managers-Professor P.
Polukhin and I. was developed, which made it possible to increase the intensity of accumulated deformation, the magnitude of the hydrostatic pressure, and create more favorable schemes of the stress-deformed state of metal. New spiral rolling schemes provide high accuracy of rental size with a uniform fine -grained structure. Currently, spiral rolling camps, which are part of various pipeline units, make it possible to improve the quality of the products and by performance of 1, times the best foreign samples.
A new technology for rolling continuous workpiece can be used in the processes of forging and rolling in calibers formed by two or three rolls. At the same time, developed efforts are ten or more times less than in the case of longitudinal rolling, which can significantly reduce the size of rolling mills. Based on the new technology, the problem of a radical improvement in the production of workpieces made of continuous metal, as well as hard -to -decorated steels and alloys, powder materials and refractory metals, is solved.
